Knowledge, Thoughts and Approaches of Healthcare Management Students on Artificial Intelligence in Medicine

Abstract

Aim:The aim of the research is to reveal descriptive information about the knowledge, thoughts and approaches of health management students about artificial intelligence applications used in medicine.

Material and Method:The research is quantitative and cross-sectional. The research was carried out on 185 health management students. The data were collected through an online questionnaire form. The questionnaire form consists of 27 questions in total. SPSS 27 package program was used in the analysis of the data and descriptive statistical findings were presented.

Results:In the research, almost all of the participants stated that they knew the concept of artificial intelligence, but only 31.9% of them knew about the applications of artificial intelligence in medicine. In addition, the majority of participants stated that artificial intelligence is suitable for use in health promotion and preventive health services in the field of medicine. The majority of the participants stated that artificial intelligence applications will provide significant advantages and benefits in medicine. It has also been observed that the participants, who stated that artificial intelligence cannot replace the human physician, did not find the applications of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine completely reliable. 

Conclusion:As a result, although participants don’t have very detailed knowledge about artificial intelligence applications in medicine, they reported that these applications will provide important developments in medicine. In addition, it has been observed that artificial intelligence in medicine arouses their curiosity and they are willing to receive training on it. Therefore participants have a positive approach to artificial intelligence in medicine.
